Celebrating green interiors: Nature’s most versatile shade

17.04.25

There’s something about green, that always feels good. Maybe because it’s the colour we most associate with the natural world and times we feel most relaxed: sitting in the garden, walking in nature and sun-dappled meadows. Green will always brings a piece of the outside in, which makes it a dream to decorate with, as its grounding and uplifting all at the same time.

Personally, I think it’s one of the most versatile and timeless shades we have. Soft and serene or rich and deep, green can adapt to almost any room. It also works well with so many other colours, and whether you use in abundance or as an accent, it always brings a sense of balance and calm to a space.

Our latest shoot showcases just that, a dreamy green sitting room full of layered tones and textures. I wanted to share a bit more about the thinking behind the design, along with some of the green colourways from my fabric and wallpaper collections, and how you might use them to bring that same fresh, natural feeling into your own home.

Designing the green sitting room

This sitting room was all about celebrating green in all its glory.

I teamed up with the wonderful stylist Kate French, and together we picked four different fabrics from my House 1 and House 2 collections. The aim was to create a layered, tonal look, not with perfectly matching shades, but subtle variations of green. The result is a space that feels relaxed, harmonious and full of depth.

As you know, I’m never far from a stripe and every scheme has one, big or small. This time we pulled in the Marni Stripe in Provence on the cushions, piped in the co-ordinating cord to match the Bullion fringe on the Skirt, both from Samuel and Son. Matching the cushion tied it into the armchair and scheme as a whole, and added contrast and something a little unexpected.

Whether you’re drawn to fresh, zesty greens or prefer something deeper and more dramatic, we’ve got a palette of greens that suit every space. Here are a few of our favourites:

Pickled green: Bright and fresh

Pickled Green is energetic and fresh. A greenhouse green, seen on the leaves of garden herbs. It’s cheerful, botanical, and full of life. It pairs effortlessly with soft whites, warm neutrals and yellow, and my favourite, Pink. Saying this, Pandora Taylor Interiors paired it with blue, which was a beautiful choice and it sung!

Castle Wall: Soft and serene

Castle Wall is a quieter green, understated, elegant, and very calming. It has the look of aged stone with a hint of sage, the kind of colour you’d find in a historic interiors and exteriors. Perfect for layering with linen, natural woods, and wool textures, it brings a soothing sense of sophistication to your space.

Banana Palm: Deep and luxurious

Banana Palm is our best yellow green. It’s rich, bold, and full of warmth. Inspired by tropical leaves and grand old interiors, it’s ideal for adding depth and a touch of opulence to a room. We love it paired with Yellow and Pink, it will bring a sense of warmth and richness to your interior.
